Basic Fire Safety Training | Face-to-Face Classroom Course
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires every employer to provide adequate fire safety training for all staff. Therefore, this legal duty places real statutory responsibility on businesses of every single size. Specifically, this basic training framework helps you to ensure everyone recognises common hazards safely.
Consequently, employees learn how to respond correctly to alarms and support building evacuations efficiently. This half-day course helps you to meet exactly that workplace need. For example, it covers essential theory and practical skills without extended warden content.
Does your organisation require designated wardens or managers to take on extra building safety duties? If so, you can review our full-day Fire Warden/Marshal Training | Face-to-Face course. This shorter option focuses strictly on general employee awareness.
The Modern Firexo Extinguisher Advantage
One important development sets our training programme apart from standard providers. Specifically, this course includes complete coverage of the innovative Firexo range of extinguishers. Traditional systems rely strictly on separate units for different hazards.
However, Firexo units help you to tackle multiple fire classes safely using a single extinguisher. Therefore, this modern capability helps you to improve workplace emergency management significantly. If your workforce was last trained years ago, their current knowledge might contain a critical gap.
Consequently, our syllabus updates your team on the latest suppression safety standards cleanly.
What You Will Learn
Our comprehensive syllabus balances scientific fire theory with realistic hands-on emergency drills. Specifically, the core modules cover these essential fields:
- The Science of Fire: Understanding combustion principles, the fire triangle components, and how fires behave naturally.
- Hazard Identification: Pinpointing the most common structural causes of accidental fires in commercial environments.
- Risk Suppression: Assessing how toxic smoke spreads through a building layout and impacts human decision-making.
- Alarm Responses: Implementing exact emergency procedures immediately when you discover smoke or hear building alarms.
- Evacuation Protocols: Navigating escape routes safely and understanding individual roles during active building clearances.
- Extinguisher Mastery: Reviewing specific extinguisher types and executing practical drills using water and CO2 units safely.
Course Duration and Assessment Criteria
This face-to-face programme delivers three hours of guided classroom learning. Generally, sessions run promptly from 9:00am until 12:30pm at our Knutsford facility. In addition, we restrict group sizes to a maximum of twelve candidates per qualified instructor.
This setup helps you to ensure every student receives excellent feedback during practical drills. We verify candidate competence through two distinct testing methods before issuing certificates.
First, you will complete a standard multiple-choice theory exam paper, requiring a seventy percent score. Second, continuous practical observations demand a perfect hundred percent pass mark. Specifically, you must demonstrate correct extinguisher handling under realistic conditions to pass.
Successful candidates receive an official Chris Garland Training certificate via a secure digital PDF file. Subsequently, this qualification remains valid for exactly one year. Following this period, your team should attend an annual refresher track to maintain compliance.
Prerequisites and Venue Bookings
This training track suits anyone aged 14 or older looking to build general safety awareness. Meanwhile, we conduct all instructions and technical materials strictly in English. Therefore, we recommend a baseline guidelines background of Level 1 literacy for all delegates.
Please contact our administrative office before booking to discuss any necessary reasonable adjustments. Open scheduled sessions require a minimum of four candidates to run successfully.
Alternatively, why not arrange to host private training directly at your corporate headquarters? We travel nationwide to deliver customised workplace programmes. Consequently, please complete our online quote request form to arrange a private group session.
