Basic Fire Safety (face-to-face)
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect in October 2006 & made fire safety training a legal requirement for every member of staff. This 3 hour Basic Fire Safety course is designed to give you the fundamental information required to act safely in an emergency situation where you have been tasked with fire safety responsibilities.
This course is designed to enable you to act safely should a fire be discovered on your premises. You can then alert your fire wardens to the danger and evacuate the premises. With the current watchword in fire safety being “competence”, a short course such as this 3-hour course cannot train you sufficiently to be a competent fire warden.
Course syllabus includes:
- What is fire
- The fire triangle
- Common causes of fire
- Identifying and controlling fire hazards and risks
- How fire and smoke spread
- Emergency procedures
- What to do if you’re stuck in a fire
- How fires are extinguished
- Fire extinguishers (types and uses)
- Practical use of water and CO2 fire extinguishers
