Fire Marshal Training: E-Learning

The Fire Marshal qualification, delivered online for those who cannot attend a classroom day.

Our face-to-face Fire Warden course is a full day of practical, interactive learning. For some delegates and organisations, that format is not practical. This online version delivers the same underpinning knowledge as a self-paced e-learning module, approved by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the Responsible Person in any workplace to ensure that designated fire wardens are properly trained. Online delivery meets the knowledge component of that requirement, allowing delegates to complete the theory at their own pace before applying it in their specific workplace.

A note on practical training: fire marshal competence has a knowledge component and a practical component. This course addresses the knowledge component thoroughly. However, practical extinguisher use, building-specific evacuation procedures, and hands-on equipment checks are best reinforced face to face. Where your organisation has not already completed practical training, we recommend pairing this e-learning module with a shorter practical session. Contact us to discuss options.

What You Will Learn

• The science of fire: combustion, the fire triangle and how fire behaviour affects evacuation decisions
• Common causes of workplace fire and how to identify and reduce fire hazards
• How fire and smoke spread through a building, and what this means for a Fire Marshal’s decisions
• Backdraught: recognising the warning signs and what not to do
• Means of escape: fire doors, escape routes, travel distances, refuges and signage
• Types of evacuation and the principles of planning a safe evacuation
• Your role as a Fire Marshal during a fire alarm activation and during a confirmed fire
• Fire detection and alarm systems: how they work and what different signals mean
• Fire extinguisher types and their correct uses, including CO2, water, foam, powder and wet chemical
• Legal duties for fire safety management, including the employer’s obligations under the 2005 Order
• General Emergency Evacuation Plans (GEEPs) and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)

Course Details

Certificate:

• PDF format certificates are issued as standard, as soon as you complete the course.
• This course qualifies for 2 CPD points

Course duration:

• This fire marshal course will take the average learner around 2-3 hours to complete.

Test:

• This course is tested online & you’ll need to gain a minimum of 70% to pass.
• You will undertake a multiple choice exam at the end of the course with short tests throughout to help cement your learning.

Pre-requisites:

• We recommend that you have a reasonable understanding of English & maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/Level 2) before undertaking this course.

Candidates:

• Purchase a place for yourself, or purchase a bundle for your colleagues.

Geographical coverage:

• The course is available to candidates in UK.
• The course can be delivered in other countries however candidates should be aware that the content was developed in accordance with current UK practice, protocols & guidance.

Venue:

• This fire marshal course can be run on any electronic device, but we recommend that a laptop/desktop is used to ensure that you can see the screen clearly.
