Concussion in Sports Awareness Course
Concussion and traumatic brain injuries are becoming critical topics amongst sports professionals and amateur clubs alike. However, player and coach knowledge of what a concussion is remains frequently incorrect. Therefore, identifying hidden symptoms immediately is vital to prevent long-term neurological damage.
This comprehensive three-hour course guides you through the latest medical research and national safety guidelines. Specifically, our syllabus focuses on the latest UK Concussion Guidelines for Non-Elite (Grassroots) Sport protocols. Consequently, this training serves as excellent Concussion Training for Coaches and team safety representatives.
As a result, this updated knowledge helps you to execute safe pitch-side or ring-side interventions for players young and old.
What You Will Learn
Our intensive half-day syllabus focuses on immediate risk identification and safe recovery planning. For example, modules address these core fields:
- Concussion Mechanics: Understanding exactly what a concussion is and how it affects brain function.
- Second Impact Syndrome: Recognising the catastrophic dangers of sustaining a second injury before fully recovering.
- Pitch-Side Assessment: Implementing current guidance protocols and performing dynamic structural evaluations under pressure.
- Return to Play: Managing safe, graduated return to play protocols designed specifically for children and adults.
- Post-Concussion Tracking: Identifying prolonged neurological symptoms associated with complex Post-Concussion Syndrome cases.
