16 Hour Outdoor First Aid Course | Face-to-Face

From £149.99

16-Hour Outdoor First Aid Course | 2 Days | For Adults | Remote Environments

A 2-day, 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course for those working or spending extended time outdoors where emergency services may be up to 2 hours away. Covers adult casualties only. Book today.

Forest School Leaders; We’d strongly recommend that you consider booking onto our dedicated 3-day Forest School First Aid course that Chris developed hand-in-hand with our Ofqual Regulated Awarding Organisation.

Alternatively, if time is tight, you may prefer our 2-day blended learning forest school first aid course. You’ll learn the same as on the 3-day course and be tested just as stringently, with part of the course undertaken at your leisure beforehand.

In both cases, these dedicated courses allow us to better simulate and assess your training in outdoor scenarios when working with infants (0-1 years old) and children (1-18 years old).

16-Hour Outdoor First Aid Course

Standard first aid training assumes help is minutes away. This course assumes it is up to two hours away.

Outdoor environments present first aid challenges that a standard workplace qualification does not address. Response times are longer. Equipment is limited. Environmental conditions create additional hazards. Casualties may need to be managed for extended periods before professional help arrives. And the range of injuries associated with outdoor and wilderness activities, including falls from height, immersion, hypothermia, crush injuries and environmental hazards, requires specific knowledge that the HSE’s EFAW and FAW syllabuses were not designed to cover.

This 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course provides the knowledge and skills for first aiders in outdoor environments where help may be up to two hours away. It is designed for adults 18 and over and is ideal for anyone spending extended time in the outdoors or wilderness environments, whether through recreational, voluntary or work-related activities.

An important note for Forest School leaders and those working with infants or children: we strongly recommend our dedicated Forest School First Aid course (3-day face to face) or Forest School First Aid: Blended Learning (online plus 2 days) instead. Chris developed those courses hand-in-hand with our Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation, and they specifically include infant and child CPR, paediatric assessment, and scenarios relevant to working with young people outdoors. The 16-hour Outdoor First Aid course covers adults only.

    • This is the default option.

Certain corporate entities and national governing bodies require certificates to be formally issued by an Ofqual-regulated Awarding Organisation to meet strict internal compliance policies.

We offer both Chris Garland Training certified options and fully accredited courses. The primary operational difference is the external registration fee; selecting an Ofqual-regulated certificate incurs an additional charge of £12.50 per person.

Please note that several of our highly specialized courses are completely bespoke to Chris Garland Training and are not tied to an external framework. If your selected course falls into this category, this will be clearly outlined within your final quotation.
