Wound Closure Course (inc. Suturing)
Every method of wound closure in one course, including the one that takes longest to learn properly.
Suturing is the most technically demanding of the common wound closure methods. It is also the one that benefits most from sustained, hands-on practice with proper instruction. This full-day course covers the complete range of wound closure techniques: wound closure strips, surgical adhesive, staples and suturing. It gives you the theory to choose the right method for a given wound, and the practical skill to carry it out.
Led by a highly experienced A&E nurse, the course includes extensive practical work using suturing training pads and, when available, pig trotters. This gives you realistic tissue to practise on, rather than synthetic pads alone.
Free gift: every delegate receives their own suturing kit, including a suturing training pad and a selection of tools, to take home and continue practising after the course.
What You Will Learn
- Anatomy and physiology relevant to wound healing
- Wound assessment: what to look for, and how to decide on the appropriate closure method
- Irrigation technique
- The use of local anaesthetic
- When to refer to a specialty rather than close a wound yourself
- Closure methods, including:
- Wound closure strips (for example, Steri-Strips)
- Skin adhesive (surgical glue)
- Staples
- Suturing, with extended practical time to develop technique and confidence

Simon Matthews –
Amazing course, gave hands on top end training to carryout exactly what we were there for.
Could do with some larger gloves and tools for the fat fingered of us. In no way did this effect my enjoyment and learning capabilities of the course.
ChrisGarland –
Hi Simon,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’ll be sure to pass it along to the course instructor & get some more gloves! 🙂
