QNUK Level 3 Award for First Responders (RQF) | 4-Day Course
Entering the pre-hospital emergency care sector requires advanced medical competencies. Specifically, this QNUK qualification meets the national PHEM skills framework at descriptor level C. This training track delivers broader skills than traditional first person on scene options. Therefore, candidates can progress their clinical careers with total confidence.
This programme perfectly exceeds standard Health and Safety Executive requirements for workplace first aid provision. Furthermore, it fulfills all mandatory Security Industry Authority criteria for close protection licensing. The syllabus addresses the distinct needs of high-risk environments. For instance, it benefits maritime security and executive protection teams immensely.
What You Will Learn
Our rigorous medical curriculum integrates clinical theory with intensive physical emergency response drills. For example, the comprehensive syllabus covers these core sectors:
Clinical Fundamentals and Assessment
- Professional Roles: Understanding emergency service capabilities and establishing effective incident command communication.
- Safeguarding Duties: Implementing infection controls alongside identifying adult and child abuse indicators.
- Patient Evaluation: Mastering complex scene management loops alongside structured primary patient assessments.
- Mental Wellbeing: Supporting casualties facing mental health crises while managing personal physical health.
Advanced Airway Management and Resuscitation
- Airway Adjuncts: Utilising advanced jaw thrust techniques safely alongside NP, OP, and iGel devices.
- Ventilation Tools: Operating medical suction apparatus and deploying manual bag valve masks.
- Life Support: Delivering adult, child, and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation plus automated external defibrillator usage.
- Oxygen Therapy: Administering emergency supplementary oxygen safely using therapeutic delivery devices.
Trauma Care and Medical Emergencies
- Severe Haemorrhage: Managing catastrophic bleeding, treating profound medical shock, and packing wounds.
- Chest Trauma: Identifying tension pneumothorax, tracking paradoxical breathing, and managing tachypnoea symptoms.
- Skeletal Injuries: Immobilising severe fractures, managing painful dislocations, and deploying pelvic splints.
- Spinal Protocols: Practising safe motorcycle helmet removal steps and applying rigid cervical collars.
- Medical Crises: Responding to severe asthma, anaphylaxis, acute strokes, diabetes complications, and sepsis.
- Toxicology: Identifying poisoning symptoms and administering emergency first aid for opioid overdoses.
Testing and Assessment Standards
We verify candidate competence through strict dual testing systems over the training block. First, you will sit a two-hour multiple-choice question paper. Candidates require a minimum score of 80% to pass. Second, you must achieve a perfect 100% score during practical observation checks.
The physical assessments take place across multiple realistic mock environments. Specifically, candidates must be physically capable of conducting continuous floor-based resuscitation manoeuvres. Due to the rigorous assessment language, learners must demonstrate an excellent command of English.
Mandatory Prerequisites and Pre-Course Study
This advanced qualification is strictly designed for candidates aged 18 or older. Additionally, we strongly recommend holding an active first aid at work certificate. An in-date sixteen-hour outdoor first aid qualification is also an ideal baseline. These entry paths ensure you possess sufficient background knowledge.
Candidates must complete six hours of self-directed reading before attending the first day. We provide the mandatory First Responder Care Essentials textbook upon enrolment. Specifically, you must study the assigned anatomical and trauma chapters completely. These tasks are essential preparation for your classroom tracking.
Venue Options and Course Capacities
Scheduled four-day courses run regularly at our dedicated training centre in Knutsford. We strictly cap learning cohorts at eight candidates per qualified instructor.
