Health and Safety in a Care Setting | E-Learning
A care home is both a workplace and someone’s home. Health and safety obligations span both.
Care homes differ fundamentally from other workplaces. The people living in them have rights as residents that must be respected alongside the occupational health and safety obligations owed to staff, visitors and contractors. Managing health and safety in this environment requires an understanding of both, and of the legislation that governs each.
This CPD-approved online course provides an introduction to health and safety specifically in the context of care settings, including the legislation that applies, the responsibilities of management and employees, and the practical hazards that staff are most likely to encounter. It covers common hazardous situations, emergency procedures and aspects of the work environment that affect staff welfare, giving care workers the foundational knowledge they need to work safely and to support safe conditions for the people in their care.
