Pre-hospital care refers to the emergency medical treatment provided to patients before they reach a healthcare facility. This includes analysing, resuscitating, stabilising, and preventing further harm to the patient. Emergency medical services (EMS) responders are the first healthcare providers on the scene of a disaster and play a crucial role in evaluating the situation and determining the necessary resources, including medical assistance. Their quick response and expertise can make all the difference in saving lives and minimising the impact of a disaster.
