Introduction to Person-Centred Care | E-Learning
Person-centred care is the legally required approach in UK adult social care. It also happens to produce better outcomes.
The concept of person-centred care, originating in the 1940s from the work of psychologist Carl Rogers, places the individual and their specific needs, preferences and goals at the centre of all care planning and delivery. In UK adult social care, this is no longer simply a values-based aspiration. It is a principle embedded in the Care Act 2014, reflected in the CQC’s fundamental standards, and expected in every interaction between a care worker and the people they support.
This CPD-approved online course introduces the principles of person-centred care, traces its history, explains how it is expressed in current legislation and regulation, and provides practical guidance on what it looks like in everyday care practice.
