Level 2 Award in Allergy Awareness: E-learning
Allergen training is not optional. Since Natasha’s Law, training is a mandatory legal requirement.
The death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse in 2016, and the legislative response that followed, changed the obligations of every food business in England. Natasha’s Law, formally the Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2019, requires all pre-packed for direct sale (PPDS) food to carry full ingredient and allergen labelling. It came into force on 1 October 2021. The Food Information Regulations 2014 require clear allergen information for all food sold loose or served directly to consumers.
These are legal requirements, not aspirational standards. A food handler who does not understand allergens, cannot communicate allergen information accurately, or does not know how to prevent cross-contamination puts customers at serious risk of harm, and exposes their employer to criminal liability.
This Level 2 Award in Allergy Awareness gives food handlers the knowledge they need to work safely and legally in an allergen-aware environment.
