Training in the use of evacuation chair & sledges is a legal requirement where these devices are chosen as a means of evacuating people from premises during an emergency. Fire regulations state that the “responsible person” (e.g. the business owner, employer or landlord) must ensure, as part of the first risk assessment, that everyone can be evacuated safely during an emergency.
UK Government guidelines specifically state that evacuation chairs are the preferred means of evacuation for those who are disabled, have mental health troubles, are pregnant or who need assistance. It also states that the training provided should include disability awareness, disability evacuation etiquette, and moving, lifting and handling techniques. Our courses include this extra training. Ensure that your colleagues are trained properly with our suite of training courses.
