Introduction to Early Years Foundation Stage
This Introduction to Early Years Foundation Stage course introduces you to the expectations of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The Early Years Foundation Stage, commonly referred to as the EYFS is a framework that all Early Years providers, including childminders, must follow. The course can also act as a refresher for those wanting to update their knowledge.
The course will introduce you to some of the key documents and legislation that relate to Early Years providers, the process for registering with Ofsted and the various policies and procedures that need to be in place. It also covers learning and development requirements, how to observe and assess the progress of children in your care and the safeguarding and welfare requirements laid out in the EYFS Framework.

Course duration:
- The Introduction to Early Years Foundation Stage course includes around 60 minutes of video lead learning.
Test:
- The Introduction to Early Years Foundation Stage course is tested online & you’ll need to gain a minimum of 70% in each of the modules to pass.
- There are short tests throughout to help cement your learning.
- You will undertake a multiple choice exam at the end of the course.
Pre-requisites:
- We recommend that you have a reasonable understanding of English & maths (e.g. GCSE grade D/Level 1) before undertaking this course.
